RESULTS
Hill Billy (aka Jim Sullivan) from Brixton Cycles was the winner of the Schwalbe Fixed Gear Skid Competition with a superb skid in excess of 100m.
THE COMPETITION
A race like no other. The Schwalbe Fixed Gear Longest Skid Competition will feature city fixed gear riders attempting to perform the longest 'back-wheel lock', watched and measured by the eagle-eyed Nocturne Series judges.
Competitors will complete a warm up lap, before using their skill and experience in the city to skid their wheel for as long as possible. Strictly no brakes allowed.
The winner will receive a bottle of Champagne and pair of Schwalbe Durano Skid tyres (see below).
Competitors need to have a fixed wheel bike, and be pretty damn good on it. If you are, and fancy a slightly different challenge, fill in the form below and we'll get back with details. Entry is free.

THE PRIZE - SCHWALBE DURANO SKID TYRES
Over the last couple of years the fixie pixies have been leaving us little messages and so we thought we’d better reply – our answer was the Durano Skid. The guys at Schwalbe in Germany have toiled away in their workshop and developed the best all round fixie bike tyre with just the right rubber: The Durano Skid has a thick layer of robust, touring tyre, tread compound (the Endurance compound used in the Marathon range) that can withstand real "abuse" - braking by locking the rear wheel - for a much longer time. However, although the Endurance compound is, as its name suggests, durable this is not at the total expense of grip. This means, a durable fixe specific tyre that won’t have you white knuckling your bars every time a wet drain or manhole cover is your only alternative to a pothole – but if you do choose the pothole they’ve got rubber coated sidewalls as well!
